Since opening our doors in 1997, En Route Hair & Beauty has been a welcoming sanctuary for everyone. Over the past 29 years, we’ve grown from a local village salon into an award-winning hub for hair artistry, mindfulness, and sustainability.

Our Journey to Sustainability
Salon owner, Melenie’s passion for protecting the planet began long before sustainability became a mainstream concept. Growing up in a household with solar panels in the late '70s and becoming vegetarian at age 13, living mindfully was second nature.
However, her true turning point came while volunteering at an animal sanctuary in Borneo. Seeing prime rainforests destroyed by deforestation for palm oil plantations ignited a deep purpose. Realizing that palm oil and single-use waste were widespread across the hair and beauty sector, Mel set out to transform En Route into a force for good.
What started as a personal value evolved into the salon’s guiding ethos: "Love Your Hair, Love Your Planet." Mel proved that making eco-conscious choices isn't just an ethical responsibility, it's a smart, sustainable way to build a thriving salon.
